The other name of Kranti Sugar factory is Krantiagrani Dr G. D. Bapu Lad Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana Ltd. It is a prominent cooperative sugar factory situated in Kundal, Taluka Palus, in Sangli district in Maharashtra. It has been named after the founder, Krantiagrani Dr G. D. Bapu Lad, who was also a freedom fighter. The facility has been established with the purpose of empowering farmers while contributing to the economic development of the region. Over the last few years, the facility has grown tremendously and has become a significant player.
The Kranti Sugar factory operates a 5,000 TCD sugar mill with a 19.70MW cogeneration plant along with a 90KLPD distillery, which results in the production of electricity and ethanol. The facility is also boosting rural employment.

The factory processes around 1,50,000 MT of sugarcane every month. The sugar cane is used to produce high-quality commercial sugar.
- Energy and power
It hosts a 19.70 Mega cogeneration facility. Out of the total generated power, 7.4MW is utilised for the in-house operations of the factory, while the remaining 10 MW is exported to the state’s grid.
- Distillery
It features a molasses-based distillery with a load capacity of around 90KPLD to boost the ethanol production.
- Sourcing resources
Water is taken from the Krishna river, which is located approximately 10Km from the plant, streamlining the entire operations of the factory.
- Organic fertilizer
The facility is processing by-products like press mud into nutrient-rich organic compost fertiliser, which improves the local agricultural yield, benefiting both the unit and farmers.
